seasteading

I must say that, though I wouldn’t have embraced this concept on my own what with all of my misconceptions and my fond attachment to earth under my feet, I am so impressed with this ‘in the zone’ fringe group of people that I am now watching and learning from them – and I wanted you to know.

They care about all of the issues that we care about. Of course, a seastead will require you to let go of a lot of your previous programming (aren’t so many of us ready for that anyway?) and sure, there will be times when life is not all smooth sailing, but editing process/trial and error are how a species gains intelligence.

‘They’ are the Seasteading Institute which recently held a conference hosted by the French Polynesians (oh, just exactly when that parade of FIVE energy archetypes were rolling through the first decan of Cancer a couple of weeks ago…). Polynesians have a lot at stake as sea levels rise…

“We Polynesians are certainly a people of the sea, the first seasteaders…By observing seabirds dipping to recover their fish, the Marquesans calculated the coefficient of penetration in the water of the “head of bird” and thus adapted the paddle…The Polynesians invented the meridians and parallels long before the West developed the chronometer…

“As they settled in the islands they discovered, our ancestors repeatedly showed themselves to be innovative. They also faced the same modern issues: demographic growth, pressure on ecological resources, climate change. They succeeded in overcoming them through their adaptability and rigorous discipline within the community, allowing them to develop specific visions of the management of time and space.
“These values, symbols, and concepts are what we want to revive and promote, to reconcile traditional and contemporary Polynesian societies.”  – Pascal Erhel Hatuuku,
Culture, Tourism and Environment Consultant, Polynesian Tradition Facing Climate Change

“As a young Polynesian working in sustainable tourism, I deeply believe that this project is a hope for all our generation, because they [seasteaders] have the same values we do. We do respect our environment. We do think about the future. We do have our mana, our authenticity. So I invite everybody from our generation, because there are so many people who come back from the USA and France with PhDs and Masters, and they don’t know what to do here. So this project of the floating island is a hope for a generation. It’s the hope that we are the millennials, and we are going to change the world.”  – Alexandrine Wan, Sustainable Tourism Expert Sustainable Tourism Development: We Believe in the Mana

A Space Station on the Sea – Where the Townstead Meets the Water

Imagine living on a very stable foundation with a group of several hundred people who all care about and pledge to actively sustain a fair and healthy co-existence with the Planet. Each of you has something you can sell or barter in your shop space or a value-service you can undertake for the good of the society; each of you has a home space with all of the basic amenities (and more, depending on your budget). You come and go as you like from your nano-state.

Think about this: the surface of the ocean is the largest solar panel in the world. And then there’s Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion. Aquapreneurs want you to know they ‘got a better offer than you can get on land’…

See if you aren’t hooked within the first five minutes of this comprehensive podcast featuring Joe Quirk. And by hooked, fellow land-lovers out there, I just mean it’s an awfully interesting concept to introduce yourself to. 😉

New Moon: 6 Taurus 27

Rest and Abide

Generally speaking, there is a beautiful simplicity to a new moon in Taurus. It’s a call to steer the body into a comfortable position and rest it long enough for the mind to find its matching harmonious frequency: Here there is no clutter, only blissful sufficiency.

Since the new moon in Aries 28 days ago, we’ve been called to stake our claim and take on the proverbial plough harness. We should feel tired and we should heed that feeling. Yet, there’s another reason to pause. Just as we must fit our catnaps or zone out times around the demands of life, we will need contemplative time to consider how our grand plan has had to shapeshift for the hard earth of reality. This just can’t be rushed; the mind’s strategic survival structures need time to get the message that it’s really alright to chill out. And then, whilst snoozing or strolling or staring out the window, a ‘fix’ or a peaceful acceptance can come.

And so, generally speaking and regardless of any and all matter hitting the fan, the Universe invites you to rest and abide as much as possible. Continue to pace yourself, too, watching that Mars in Gemini doesn’t scatter your energies all over the place, but diversifies the ways in which you progress towards your target.

Meanwhile, we’ve got a longer cycle coming into its 2nd of three passes: Mercury in conjunction with Uranus in Aries…

Time flies when you are swamped, right? Since the turning of the year, many of us have determined where our personal energy is best channeled and begun the necessary networking and bridge-work. We are on our way. We’ve been exposed to different points of view and consciously or not, refined our own perspective. Along the way, we may well have had breakthroughs or surpassed our expectations in a particular area of relating to other/s and, in doing so, were impressed with what ‘çame out’ of us. Yes! We navigated best we could between a rock and a hard place, came out on a new ledge…and watched ourselves transform that position using a combination of our own lessons learned (maintaining flexibility) and fixed gaze on our long term goal/s (holding consistent)…

And now, over the course of this week, another cycle is rising – A hardwired sequence of thoughts/behaviors/assumptions/prophecies will be forced to a sudden stop. Somehow, lightning strikes and there is suddenly ‘space’…a split second later, there sits a new thought and it blows our mind. Wow! It’s as if what we finally grasp as being True in one area of our life must also hold to be true in a general life-creed sense; like ripples of evolution in all dimensions.

Mercury plus Uranus in Aries = shocking, piercing, penetrating, of high art/craft, progressive, authentic, inspired by something greater than Self, life changing. So, sure, you could shout and scream, attack with a knife or enlist a posse to encircle and crush the enemy camp. Certainly, this isn’t gentle energy and you may well be on the receiving end from someone who probably desperately needs some time out. The bottom line is that this energy is on tap for ALL of us even as we must individually wield it. Let’s be Taurus about it: slow to anger, quick to see that this, too, shall pass. Let’s keep on doing our best to apply these symbolic descriptors towards peaceful co-thriving.

Wishing you a magical new moon,

On Cycles

Pluto stations retrograde on April 20th opening a tunnel into our approach to the natural cycle of endings and beginnings through September 29. This review may bring to our awareness where we may not be allowing the natural “death” of something to take its course by regenerating in a transformed state. Before change can happen, we need to let go of the old, the tired, the worn out, the dysfunctional. If we can keep everything moving through their natural cycles, we remain constantly refreshed. Pluto’s subtle alchemic process is a quiet, under the radar energetic force that works regardless of how conscious we are of it. The more aware we are, however, the greater traction we may experience in becoming at one with the magical rhythms of the cosmos.  – Gray Crawford (link)

New Moon: 7 Aries 37

cyp NMaries28mar17

Happy New Energy Year!

For all the buzz of springtime, this Aries new moon will probably be a little more sedate than usual on the individual level and I think we can all appreciate that. For weeks now, we’ve been overloaded with personal and macro voltage in this life sector. Recently, as Mars entered Taurus, we began to feel a kind of internal tug of war about where to channel all this buzz but we’re getting acclimated now and that brings a potential softening to this most-driven of energies. A degree of deliberation may suit before we go on conquest…

Many of us now won’t rise to just any old battle cry. It’s going to have to mean a lot; we’ll have to believe it can take us where we want to go. In fact, some of us will be offered or be offering some proof up front and that is a solid way to get attention and be recognised.

Using the theme of the recent Virgo full moon as a framework, contemplate and formulate your new moon wish. These are Action Fire seeds, by the way! What do you want to make happen so much that you are willing – you are happy –  to fight for it to the point of exhaustion? What would you expect to get when you work for a wish like that? Something awesome, that’s for sure. Go For It.

a prosperous new energy year to all!

Astrology is a code that illuminates the timing of both events and issues one must find ways to deal with… there are always cycles within cycles, so that while our minds find it necessary to focus on just one cycle at a time, it is equally important to recognize that any interpretation that only focuses on just one thing must be incomplete…This is important to remember so we are able to maintain a balanced understanding.  – Jim Sher

Growing Your Truth Center

Regarding the battle against suppression, Rappoport concludes, “Anybody who goes after the truth is going to find very positive things happening. It’s not all, ‘Oh, well, I exposed the truth so now there are thousands of people who are after me,’ and so forth. Things are breaking out into a new direction here, and they have been for years because the passing of the ball is happening at a tremendous rate. We’re not the Cold War or the 1930s; our world is different, and so many people are joining, and the movement is becoming a tremendous, positive thing. It’s an invitation to anyone who wants to join the party.”  (Source)

And a Textbook Manifestation of Uranus in Aries :

Amal Graafstra in Seattle, Washington has implanted himself with an enhancement chip and you can, too. He says, ‘Biohacking is a big umbrella term. It involves everything from hacking DNA and bacteria and people to doing what we’re doing which is essentially not shying away from putting devices into the body to enhance it. They really view the body as a sports utility vehicle for the mind and just like an SUV you can upgrade your body now, too.’ (Source)
