Direct and Simple

I started offering a variation on my services theme a couple of months ago that is working out really well in my little tribe and I think its time for me to offer it to you. Its somewhat old school but still the most direct and accommodating route for all types of schedules and devices: an email service.

You can receive an email written by me that covers the basic energy currents for all of us that I think are most important to note and some suggestions for how to work these into your real, live life in plain English on a monthly basis – at least. I say ‘at least’ because there are some months when we want to really zoom in on a potential opportunity and/or pitfall and I like you to be fully tooled-up.

Even more helpful is joining a 2nd tier email group wherein members receive a tailored note; alerting you, personally, to what I like to call ‘ping points’: you’ve got a special affinity built into your identity for this kind of energy weather and I can offer you concrete ways to THINK about it and USE it.

The general email subscription is eu5 per month.

The 2nd tier subscription, containing the general email content and personal content is eu10 per month.

I am also quite open to considering bartering suggestions.

I have spoken to many, here online and IRL, that like this format and the easy kind of practical access it allows. And yes, as time allows, I do reply to your follow-up questions. If you would like to join, send an email to elemental.living(at)yahoo(dot)com with ‘subscription’ in the header and let me know the service you’d like. Welcome and enjoy!

Happy Note: the general response to this offer is already sufficient for me to offer 2 FREE spaces on tier 1 and 1 FREE space on tier 2 ‘for a limited time’*. How cool is that?! Send an email as noted above and state your application for FREE email membership.

*I am hoping that every 4 weeks, I will be able to repeat this offer – I will keep those of you who apply informed.

Is This You?

Sometimes a person will say that they would rather not know what is going on because they feel stressed out enough and this would add to it; they think it is yet more work piling on an already taxed brain. If this is what you are thinking, please consider these two points:

1.Each of us already experiences these currents by the simple fact that we exist. That’s why you experience moods, how you get delighted or sideswiped from left field sometimes by a person or event somewhere in your world, which sensations you experience and habits you employ when having to make a choice or deal with someone else’s choice, why you have your ‘lifestyle’ and how you work or don’t work to hold on to what you go after.

These energies are what make up how calm/stressed out or dedicated/overworked or fulfilled/dissatisfied you may be feeling, right now.

So, this logic that taking 2 minutes to contemplate an alternate view – sitting right there just as you are now – will increase your stress just does not fly.

There is no more or less energy ‘coming at you’. It’s still the exact same amount.

Shift the Weight to the Muscles That Can Handle It

You move into the proverbial driver’s seat on how your energy gets spent because you can authentically explain to yourself why you are doing what you are doing – and respect it for what it is. From the front seat, you can see more clearly where you are going – and why you stop at one fuel station and not another, let’s say – and consciously begin to understand why your ‘autopilot program’ is making adjustments. You can support that autopilot program or you can begin to cut that wire and free up more of you for some one or some thing else as you see best.

…and…

  1. if you have, or had in the past, any kind of life advisor, counselor, coach or reader that increases your anxiety and adds to the stress you are feeling already, I urge you to stop and ask yourself WHY. What is your value system and where do you place yourself within it? I mean, you know, when you have a minute… 🙂

Be well,

Heroes in Training, Part II

828721-coalminer-1422419128-936-640x480

Everybody has a mars component to their personality: everybody knows what it feels like to want something enough to get up and get it. This can be as simple as feeding our hungry belly or as complex as defending and growing our Self. Mars is potentially our very own hero within. So, I am going to tell a little story – an allegory of sorts – and hope that you can see some helpful tips for your personal Mars component.*

Mars went spelunking in Scorpio, aka the underworld, from January 4th until the 6th of March. Collectively speaking, those with a wish list/agenda (a storyline) facilitated by getting down and dirty, by pursuing a truth to its root, by facing fears around not-knowingness, by venturing into the darkness almost certainly gleaned some pay dirt.

That’s because Scorpio deals with the symbolic underbelly – the vulnerable zone and the dwelling place of the-least-attractive. Yet a paradoxical theme holds constant: here is also where we mine rocks that have been compressed into gem stones and where ‘the source’ is located and discovered in all manner of mind/body/spirit issues. Knowledge is power. What were you willing to do to gain power?

Rising from the deep and still, on March 7th, Mars stepped through a portal and into a completely different domain: vast expanses of new space just there for the exploring…how delightful after all that cramped fixation!  Action, collectively speaking, then became facilitated for those with a wish list/agenda that included expending more physical or intellectual energy (or both, as in my storyline) on a continual basis, a willingness to stretch the mind’s eye and the body’s palette, to discover one’s hope and faith ‘muscles’ and work them like a gym ad model’s six-pack.

And that’s because Sagittarius is all about the quest. Symbolised by the centaur, this archetype combines powerful physical qualities at the service of an idealized mind’s eye. That’s mind/body/spirit in alignment for the next chapter in life location. Have you felt compelled to move? By that, I mean, in either the literal sense or philosophically – or, again, both. Any mental goal posts shifted? Faith and hope can feel a bit scary and exhilarating all at the same time…

Now the next leg of the journey finds our hero getting into complications. Bounding like an escaped hunting puppy, before he knows it he has skidded into the outer encampment of Commander Reality-on-the-Ground. He begins to hear anew the age old proverbs and must even admit to feeling some teensy stretches to his comfort zone.  You can’t just ‘go there’ or ‘act on those beliefs’ without any prep work! Have you considered the consequences of your sunny-day plan? What will people think? How will you return if you are wrong? How much does it pay? Do they even have indoor plumbing?! Mars looks around. Frankly, in his heart of hearts, he doesn’t give a damn about any of these things…but so many others do and maybe they realise something he doesn’t…? He was feeling So Inspired! But, of course, survival is paramount.

And like all complicated scenarios, the macro seeds the legion microcosms accordingly. Some of us are coming to believe it is wiser not to take risks; some will suddenly see acceptable treasures on tap right where they are; others will decide that the venture is still completely worth it but requires additional layers of knowledge that must be gained; and still others will gallop around and beyond, full speed ahead towards those little specks on the horizon that indicate a few small settlements exist Out There. None of these developments are right or wrong, in and of themselves. Each of us is living our own hero’s journey. We are where we are, choice by often narrow choice, informed by our level of awareness and the boundaries of our Reality.

I can tell you this: collectively speaking, the flow of Martian energy has slowed markedly over the past month. This has not been pleasant for most minds/bodies/spirits. Reality has made some solid points. Adjustments were enforced one way or another. Those entities bigger than our quest have demanded a time of perceived stasis, a time for contemplating on the experiences and revelations of the recent past.

In fact, as of yesterday, it is grinding its way back to re-fire the work of the digger, the surgeon, the drain snaker.  Yes, we are all back down under. Still, we can’t unsee, unlearn, unthink all we’ve experienced. Even if – especially if – you are one who finds yourself in a new mental or physical place (and perhaps think your own storyline breaks off at this point), know that your energies will be best put to use going after the very same kinds or qualities of truths and/or knowledge you were seeking from early January to early March in this locale. Wisdom says, ‘align your step, soldier.’

Most importantly, consider this: this is not the same Mars. This guy has sludged through Scorpio: probably said or did some below-the-belt stuff or had them done to him. He’s fought the elements, battled chills, risen from the dead. He’s known moments of enlightenment, seen visions of the future and been stopped in his tracks.

With all of this in mind, our hero is not destined to squander the circumstances now at hand, right? This is a wiser, big-picture Mars with poking sticks he has made from the trees out in Sag land, new batteries in his helmet light and fresh socks. Now he knows better what he’s looking for and more importantly, WHY. What’s really at stake here? What’s the rush? Let’s just see where our new and improved methodology gets us. When a choice must be made between two tunnels, it can feel quite satisfying – downright empowering – to know why you’re choosing that way. Even if it’s a gut call, its an evolved gut call.

On June 30th, when our hero reaches 23.3’ of Scorpio, he will make camp. The Sabien symbol for this zodiac degree is:

After Having Heard An Inspired Individual Deliver His “Sermon On The Mount,” Crowds Are Returning Home.

That may or may not hold meaning for you – yet. Its ok either way. There will be multiple clues to your treasure hunt that you will note as you go along between now and then. For now, you can look forward to news arriving fairly often and regularly as the Sun and Venus twitter through Gemini.  But that’s another bit of your storyline for another day…

*If you don’t understand how to really work your personal Mars energy, you may not feel in control of your direction. Facts like, ‘ All energy is neutral until directed.’ may have you rolling your eyes. Part of getting real with yourself is getting real with your life force…

Sunday Surfing and a Follow-Up on Mars Retrograde

Every day, in relation to whatever I was going to explode about 2 or 3 days ago, I get new information or insight that alters what I would have let play out in that moment and I get to enjoy a moment of thankfulness and relief at sparing myself embarrassment. – weaver

Sunday Surfing 24/04/16

Sunday Surfing posts are inspired by articles that show up on my screen and their obvious nod to the energies at play.

I read a composite presentation by symbolreader that seems to me a perfect rumination on the transits in play; it touches on the ways of the mystic and on authenticity. This segment, in particular,  strikes me as a divine invitation:

III. “Below the surface-stream, shallow and light,

Of what we say we feel—below the stream,

As light, of what we think we feel—there flows

With noiseless current strong, obscure and deep,

The central stream of what we feel indeed.”

Matthew Arnold

Next up, a post on mindhacks by Vaughn Bell about the ‘trippy’ experience of moving from consciousness to sleep: ‘(the) hypnagogic state – the brief hallucinatory period between wakefulness and sleep – and how it is being increasingly used as a tool to make sense of consciousness.’

The link therein led me off wandering through The Atlantic…

The Secret Shame of Middle Class Americans by Neal Gabler. My, but this is a wincingly honest self-analysis at how a seemingly successful person would find himself sharing, ‘I know what it is like to have to juggle creditors to make it through a week…I know what it is like to be down to my last $5—literally—while I wait for a paycheck to arrive, and I know what it is like to subsist for days on a diet of eggs. I know what it is like to dread going to the mailbox, because there will always be new bills to pay but seldom a check with which to pay them… And I know what it is like to have to borrow money from my adult daughters because my wife and I ran out of heating oil.

‘You wouldn’t know any of that to look at me. I like to think I appear reasonably prosperous. Nor would you know it to look at my résumé…I am nowhere near rich, but I have typically made a solid middle- or even, at times, upper-middle-class income…And you certainly wouldn’t know it to talk to me, because the last thing I would ever do—until now—is admit to financial insecurity or, as I think of it, “financial impotence,” because it has many of the characteristics of sexual impotence, not least of which is the desperate need to mask it and pretend everything is going swimmingly. In truth, it may be more embarrassing than sexual impotence… America is a country, as Donald Trump has reminded us, of winners and losers, alphas and weaklings. To struggle financially is a source of shame, a daily humiliation—even a form of social suicide. Silence is the only protection.’  This is an excellent exploration into the hows and whys.

Ever wonder about the average American 29 year old? ‘Forget media archetypes of older Millennials as college-educated singles living in cities. The typical 29-year-old is living with a partner in the suburbs—without a bachelor’s degree.’ Read the rest by Derek Thompson.

Feedback and Follow Up on Mars (and Pluto) rx

Its pretty tough out there on the mind/body/spirit these days, I know well. I am hearing about it from clients and friends in a spectrum ranging from a dull aching frustration just under the veneer of daily living or a loss of being passionate about anything whatsoever to the full on trauma of a heart attack, the outrage at secrets discovered and deep, deep sadness with no specific trigger.

Hold steady if you can. Find the concrete in whatever form you can, no matter how meager and pause. Even as you feel internal heat rising – or icy-ness descending, remember this: the outcome is not yet revealed. You don’t have all the cards in the deck. This is not the end of a story that is prematurely prompting a reply from you. I think I must say this to myself a hundred times a day. And it’s working. Every day, in relation to whatever I was going to explode about 2 or 3 days ago, I get new information or insight that alters what I would have played out in the moment and I get to enjoy a moment of thankfulness and relief at sparing myself and others pain and/or embarrassment.

Don’t forget, I am marsy. As in, powering my daily affairs, general well being and a large part of my public persona…yikes. But I have foresight and a map and that is worth its weight in alchemic gold. I’ve got strategies. 🙂   I am holding my tongue and letting my brain race ‘til it’s tired and fizzles out. I am eating dried fruits and nuts when I want death by chocolate cake. I am hiking up and down the foothills every single day; I make space in my schedule for physical exertion. I’m not going to let this burst through the seams: I am celebrating how empowering it is to myself and the other when I actively listen: so much more can be said/revealed/developed in the space that I protect for them/from me.

I anticipated possible variations on several themes of Mars and Pluto rx (and potentials of the Venus/Uranus conjunction, stabilized Sun and Mercury) so what has happened *so far* has floored me on one or two fronts but NOT knocked me for a loop. And you know, sometimes that is truly the best that one can hope for. Grace is present even in the chaos, dear reader. And, for all of us, it is quite possible (I would even say probable) that this grace is in close range to the very issue that’s blazing away. And grace illuminates the way by which you can apply healthy power via the mind or body or spirit. Hang in there. I am thinking of you.

For more on this long Mars transit, see this recent post. I have listed some pointers that I think will help us stay on track.
