Base Camp

So here we are at this much celebrated new moon in the sign of concrete, material gains. In 2018, Capricorn seeks the Ego’s proof of place in a rapidly changing world. I like to think of us as climbers milling around base camp, peering over our sketchy maps of the terrain above, making friends with the guides and listening with rapt attention as they offer their take on upcoming weather and trail conditions.

Base camp feels intense; there’s excitement in the air yet a prickly sense that you can’t go back. Sometimes the sun shines brilliantly over the mountain side but ominous clouds and icey winds pass, too. The guides admit that nothing is certain but that the trek is a ‘go’… We might feel very small at moments but also revel in our sturdy boots and whatever hi-tech clothing and equipment we’ve managed to assemble.

There are six archetypes trekking through Capricorn and all of them rule a house (set of themes) in your wheel. Significantly, one of them is Saturn – the Best Guide in these here parts. His influence and agenda take second place to none and his first order of business is to make clear that he dictates when you leave base camp. Each of us have unique matters (theme set/s) to attend to before we can hit a vertical stride.

On The Value of Connected Outcome

Capricorn is the sign of leadership and, though not nearly as often mentioned, all the work that goes into becoming one worthy to lead. We often think of leadership in terms of Those Above Us in groups, in corporations/our own place of work, in our religious center, local council, PTA but what if we expand upon the meaning and bring this quality right into our own mind-body space. What if we took the lead with all the chattering in our head, in charting out the pros and cons of a course change, in deciding when enough is enough or that it is not yet time to rest.

What if we make a decision that, right here and now, (this) is my perception of What Is and based upon that perception, I draw a symbolic line on the ground. Today, on (this) side of the line, I confine myself, I enclose myself in a space of cool appraisal and ponder which goal-wish or two has the best chance of concrete advancement. What needs to be repaired, what’s ready to go, what’s too heavy to carry by myself, what’s essential to success? And I lead. I lead me, my head space and my energy flow in stepping over that line.

One thing is certain: we aren’t supposed to feel like we are in this alone, except in rare cases. For some, this is about team work in getting to a specific summit. For just about everyone, this signifies the great treasures to be found in a support system. The value of connected outcomes, regardless of market place niche or life role played, are made plain.

There is an invitation for ALL of us in these days to look deeply into the quality and quantity of our exchanges with others, particularly those based on high levels of faith and trust that seem to have crept in under the radar. Insights expand awareness and create tremendous opportunities for us to refill our soul-cups and quench our thirst if we will to take the initiative. Do try to avoid the proverbial hiccups that can come from gulping too quickly. 😉 From initiative point to quenching point, it’s got to be a co-determined pace.
