Inked Thoughts and Midnight Monologues

We walk with our eyes open and hearts closed. The soul never stops yearning. Cramped apartments with empty tea cups. Sliding down the bath tub and breathing in numb oxygen. Passing down the streets at lonely hours and seeing old men drinking out of brown paper bags. Dull colors and bright colors. Frequencies of ships lost in torrential storms. A sound, a cry; heard but ignored. The hurt in these eyes. The faΓ§ade of futile smiles. The temperature soars, so does the anger within. The cat with devil eyes. Glistening in the dark of the night. Choked prayers in small town hospitals. The propulsion of an airplane flying from Bangkok to Bulgaria. This world, with immense everything. Black jackets and old records. Neon lights of an Asian pub. An old library somewhere in England. Rubble. Rust. Romance. Iced tea in dry summer heat. Fleeting joys. Broken toys. Aliens and the…

    • hi, robin πŸ™‚ yes, it really feels, to me, like just enough of an articulation of potential energy mixes to set one in contemplation – hopefully a layer or two deeper than the surface issues of the moment. at first it really depressed me but then i realised the key theme was resilience, celebrating the little joys – like having ICE for your WATER when you are on day 5 of +110′ temps.
so i am grateful for those who attempt to smile, who latch on to little joys in the drudge. and when it is too hot to move, we still have our imagination. πŸ™‚
      hope you are doing well!

  1. This feels like a walk in the evening when things have cooled down just enough for a walkabout. it starts off with close proximity stroll through a neighborhood with apartment buildings, perhaps hearing someone running a bath, looking down streets and seeing old men drinking, a cat crouching nearby, a hospital coming into view off in the distance…then, with jet propulsion, we seek a higher perspective…arrive at the writer’s heart of contemplation and the exhaustive juxtaposition of light and dark realities inextricably entangled in this great big world.

I agree this is about resiience…about the choice to be part of collective construction of a better place. I lean on this interpretation because I will eventually leave my children at my ultimate ending…and I want them to carry on with deepset peace in their hearts, love in their eyes, clarity in their mindset, and perfect medicine flowing from their inner pharmacy.

Ever is it always about cultivation of light with even deeper understanding of the mysterious dark; glittering with potential of all there is, pregnant with new worlds coming through as we co-create it.

I’m grateful for your sharing, weaver…Ulana. Your insights speak to me. Thank you!
