Part of moving house is cleaning out the cupboards for what to keep and what to throw away. This means lots of time scanning paperwork and books, box contents and even folded bags. One sheet of notes I found this morning I will keep and wanted to share it with you, too. These are notes I took from ‘A New Earth’, by Eckhart Tolle. They are so helpful in remembering to return to your baseline:
Don’t become better at crawling; transcend crawling altogether.
When you recognise the unconsciousness in you, that which makes the recognition possible IS the arising consciousness, IS the awakening. You cannot fight the ego and win, just as you cannot fight against the darkness. The light of consciousness is enough – your recognition of ego is enough.
Sin: to miss the point of existence.
Fear and greed (EGO) distort your perception of other people and yourself. You can only allow the goodess in you to emerge: you do not become more good.
How ‘spiritual’ you are has nothing to do with what you believe but everything to do with your state of consciousness. The Ego is destined to dissolve.
A widespread flowering of consciousness has not ocurred because it hasn’t been imperative. Evolution is created by factors that force it…
I am not the thought; I am the space in which the thought occurs.
Heaven on the inside, Earth on the outside.
Such powerful words, aren’t they? (and that was only from chapter one!) If you have a favorite, keep it in your mind for a few days letting it roll around. Expect an Ah-ha moment.
